my other weakness, you may know, is “the new yorker“. so i was pleased — acting on a sedaris tipoff — to stumble upon this slideshow of food-themed covers in the upcoming food issue. just look at that gorgeous wayne thiebaud painting!
(upcoming in sydney, i mean. i guess it’s already out across the pacific.)

i went to borders a couple of days ago to look for the food issue and they were still on, well, whatever the hell issue was out before the food issue. ch.
i want the egg cup one, and i want wayne thiebaud to come and paint all the cakes i make. i think i might be making an apricot cake this weekend!
sorry ladies, only the middle on is the upcoming food issue with the thiebaud painting. mr eggcup is from 1973, by andré françois.
oh, FINE.
maybe i’ll go have a boiled egg for breakfast instead.
hey MY do you read giles coren? i think that’s his name, he’s a british food writer. my editor recommended him to me, he’s good, pretty funny but i think you’re better.

i had never read giles coren, until right now. he tells a good story, doesn’t he? but i think you are mistaking me for some with other blogger who’s better than a times journalist. 🙂
i like nigel slater. and burkhard bilger.
awesome – ill look them up!
sometimes i think, man why doesn’t someone offer MY a column already! it would certainly make good living more interesting.. but then i thnk nah, it’s better this way, with pictures and speed and no restraints. thank you!

thanks lady. 🙂 i do have a story up my sleeve about a big breakfast at badde manors. mmm… it was good.
nigel slater writes for the observer, and he has some very nice cookbooks out. burkhard bilger does big, rambling stories for the new yorker, about mushrooms, or school lunch ladies or whatever. pages and pages.
